Biography

"Get me Jamie Notter" is a phrase my friend and colleague David Gammel came up with, referring to a time a client called me on Thursday to see if I could do an all-day retreat the next Tuesday ("Wow, she had a 'Get me Jamie Notter!' moment"). The inside joke stayed alive for months, so when the prospect of me starting a blog was discussed, another friend and colleague, Jeff De Cagna, insisted that I go with getmejamienotter.com as the URL. I was happy to oblige. I look forward to using this blog to simply air out my thinking about the work I do with organizations and start some powerful conversations with all of you.

Although it has a different domain name, this blog is an integral part of my work as Vice President, Organizational Effectiveness at Management Solutions Plus (http://www.mgmtsol.com). Building off the seven years I spent running my own consulting company, I now work through MSP to help leaders create more powerful organizations. My old website is still up, by the way (http://www.notterconsulting.com), because it offers downloadable articles and reviews of business and management books, so please check it out.

I became a consultant by way of the conflict resolution field. I actually got a Master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University in 1993. After six years working for a nonprofit organization doing conflict resolution work internationally (ask me about Cyprus), I moved to a different nonprofit that was doing diversity work in organizations. This prompted me to do some more graduate work (this time in Organization Development at Georgetown), and after completing that program in 2001, I started Notter Consulting, and in June 2008 I joined Management Solutions Plus.
