After more than seven years of running my own consulting company, I have decided to merge my business with an Association Management Company. As of June 2nd, I will be an employee at Management Solutions Plus, an AMC located in Rockville, Maryland.
I told you this was big news!
I am very excited about this transition for several reasons. First, it allows me to continue doing exactly what I’ve been doing. MSP is bringing me on, in part, to start a consulting practice for their company. So all the work that I have been doing for associations in helping them manage conflict, build teams, develop leadership, and craft strategy will continue, just with a new name. I will still write at this blog—you don’t even have to change your subscription. I still get to speak and write books and articles. All of that has been integral to my consulting practice, and it will continue to be.
But now I get to do all that with a great team of people to help me! I will also be taking on some new challenges, as I will be serving as Executive Director for one of MSP’s client associations. I like to joke with my association colleagues that I am now heading over to the “dark side” and becoming an association exec (since that phrase is usually reserved for people who head to the consulting world). All joking aside, I am excited about the opportunity to both practice what I preach and learn new things in my experience as an executive.
So now you have new ways to contact me. Obviously I will keep my existing email addresses active for a long period of time, but you might as well add my new email and new phone number to your database:
